What do AI tools say about your business?
More people now ask AI assistants before they search. A quick way to check what they say about you, and what to fix.
A growing number of people ask an AI assistant a question instead of typing it into a search engine. Questions like “which company makes this near me?” or “who is a good supplier for this?” are now answered by a chat. That raises a new question for every business: what does it say about us?
Why this matters
AI assistants build their answers from what has been published about businesses online: your website, your profiles, directories, news and reviews. If that information is thin, old or contradictory, the answer can be wrong, vague, or leave you out completely. You may never see it happen.
A ten-minute check
- Ask two or three different AI assistants about your business by name. Ask what you do, where you are based and who you serve.
- Ask a question your customers might ask without naming you, such as “who makes this in our city?”
- Write down what each one gets right, what it gets wrong and what it does not mention.
Fixing what you find
You cannot edit an AI tool directly, but you can improve what it learns from.
- Say it clearly on your own website. Put who you are, what you do and where you work in plain words on your main pages.
- Keep your details the same everywhere. Name, address and description should match across your website, profiles and directories.
- Fix wrong information at the source. If an old listing or article is the cause, correct that.
- Publish useful, specific content. Clear explanations of what you do give assistants better material to work with.
Where branding fits
This is a branding question as much as a technical one. A brand that is clear and consistent is easier for people to describe, and easier for AI tools to describe too. Treat it as another audience your brand needs to speak to correctly.
